The Uber driver didn't state HOW his sister's new LR was stolen. If it was trailered away, then no amount of immobilising tech will prevent that from happening. Without that vital info, I'm afraid this video just becomes more of a JLR rant.

Presumably it’s monthly subscription so they have the option to terminate policies on a month by month basis before 12 months elapses, without contractual implications, if thefts are excessive. Not great peace of mind for the policy holder. Presumably also the pot LV has available includes all their other car insurance policies, other than JLR, hence why everyones LV premiums will be going up 🤔

Clearly you aren't a JLR customer nor have any idea what the latest MY18+ security update does as what you state is false. The main issue was the ease of being able to add a third key to take the cars via the OBD port. Relay thief's are not isolated to JLR products only and isn't the primary cause of JLRs cars being stolen. Yes JLR are guilty of a parts supply issue that in turn has caused the criminals to target there cars to meet overseas demand but that via there new warehouse is steadily being resolved.

Interesting perspective. Here's another angle. I do live in the sticks, I'm probably a "vanilla " risk. Yes I got a quote from Land rover ins for my old..2009 Sport. At @ a grand a year and yes I'm on monthly subscription payments. The price is comparable with Aviva. So, until or if it all goes pear shaped I'm happy customer. That would be so different if I owned a 2018 model and I was sitting on 10k + a year deprecation as most are. That's a nightmare!!.

Great video, I do have a question though.. I agree JLR security is sub par at best. But if I install a well known, highly effective, (supported by real data) immobiliser on my vehicle why does no insurance company recognise that that alone will basically mean the vehicle is highly unlikely to be stolen. No discounts for doing so and my premium would still stay the same. Far far better and more effective than any steering lock (steering lock bypassed in 45 ish seconds), love your thoughts on this..

If you’re parking any car in an underground car park in central London, money is probably not a concern, those owners probably wouldn’t be concerned if their car is stolen. JLR vehicles are so ………poorly built….technologically over complicated…..unreliable…….unsecure and the dealer network appears to be in meltdown with parts shortages etc. Why have people like that Uber Lex driver not considered Lexus??

You can remove a steering wheel lock in seconds, the same as a pedal lock. So they are pointless and a comPlete waste of money. Their are many videos on UA-cam that show them being removed do some research and watch them. The best way to stop your vehicle being stolen is with a ghost or Pandora system or one like it which their are many now Or fitting a dead switch which is hidden, so the vehicle will not start without turning the switch on first. You should also turn keyless entry off, this can be done on all keyless entry vehicles. Normally via the key fob, pressing buttons in a set manor. Most Trackers can be blocked by a small device that goes in the cigarette socket. However this only applies to a small number of trackers. But at the end of the day if the ECU of the vehicle has been woken up then a new fob can be programmed in under 1 minute. Which means the vehicle will act as if it is being used by an original key fob. This is because of keyless start. It has been reported for the last year plus that Land Rover are having a parts issue, but so are some other vehicle manufacturers. You have not stated any facts, that have not already been reported a large number of times. The top two vehicles in the uk stolen last year were the Ford festa, then Ford focus, the third was a vw golf. Even ev’s are now being stolen, again this is down to the cost of parts. Most vehicles are stolen for parts because of a shortage or because of demand overseas. No one seems to want to stop vehicles that are stolen going over seas.

JLR have just sent me the security upgrade letter to bring my late 2018 Land Rover Vogue in for its upgrade I already have the keys with the Range Rover logo on the back ? so not sure what extra upgrade the car will get ? It is in the garage at the moment since December 2023 waiting for parts so I can't bring in to JLR dealership yet to have the upgrade ?

The core issue here is that LR have pushed the price of their cars up, especially this latest generation, but the quality is the same and they are badly secured. This isnt a surprise people are more annoyed than ever. The really scary thing is that you can get a 10yo 80k full fat RR for about 20% of its purchase price. That depreciation is insane!

With all the logistical issues of shifting a stolen car for money and the technical difficulties in getting one moving I’m surprised to hear steering locks are so valued as a security measure, I thought they were meant to be pretty useless even back in the 90’s protecting a Vauxhall nova. Have they improved? I thought Battery grinders had eliminated the problem (for thieves).
